Former local girl, Sarah Storey arrived in Salford on Friday afternoon to crowds of well wishers.
Having written herself into the history books by winning four gold medals in the 2012 Olympic Games, a post box was painted in four areas close to her heart.
Having visited three other villages during the day, her final stop was Eccles Old Road. Within minutes, cars and trucks were sounding their horns, people were cheering and surrounding her eagerly trying to get photographs.
For almost two hours the crowds came and went. At one stage she perched herself on top of the post box, this was a great photo opportunity!
Members of the 4you team went along to congratulate both Sarah and her husband Barney who also won two medals in the cycling. As the weather was not the best, a complementary umbrella was handed to the couple. Within minutes the Salford weather did not let us down, it started raining, the umbrella went up, and not to miss an opportunity our staff were there with cameras.
What a lovely afternoon, the atmosphere was electric, for a few hours everyone forgot their busy lives, stopped, congratulated both Sarah and Barney and felt a part of history
